This photographic project accompanies the conversion of Porto's Old Industrial Slaughterhouse, a work of great urban and architectural importance. The building, deactivated more than two decades ago, is being transformed into a new hub for the city's cultural, social and economic dynamism, designed by Kengo Kuma (Japan) and OODA (Portugal).
The photographic approach focused on documenting the evolution of the work, capturing the strength of human labor, the monumental scale of the original structure and the first signs of the new architecture emerging in the space. The natural light and dusty environment give the images a dramatic and realistic character, highlighting the raw materials, textures and the ongoing construction process.
This is a report that records the metamorphosis of an industrial landmark into a new urban center, where heritage, innovation and the future intersect.
